Place Stanislas is the main square in Nancy and stands as a testament to the city’s rich history and architectural impressiveness. This square is also said to be one of the prettiest squares in France.
Constructed in the 18th century, Place Stanislas is named after Stanisław Leszczyński, the Duke of Lorraine and former King of Poland, who played a pivotal role in Nancy’s transformation. Leszczyński built the square for two main reasons: to connect Old Town and New Town and to show respects to his son-in-law, Louis XV.
